CHICAGO — Rapper Lil Durk was acquitted Friday on a charge of violating his probation with a 2014 gun charge, according to his attorney Sam Adam Jr.

Durk tweeted a photo with himself and Adam after his hearing.

Adam told DNAinfo that Durk can now move on with the rest of his career.

"Now, Durk can continue to be an artist. No more negative. Only positive. That's what we're going to focus on," Adam said.

"He feels good about it. It was a tough, tough case. We couldn't have had better prosecutors."

Durk, whose real name is Durk D. Banks, was arrested with a loaded .40-caliber handgun in Englewood in 2013. He was charged with violating his probation in that case a year later.

In recent years, Durk's name was tied to two people who were shot in Uptown outside the Aragon Ballroom at a show he headlined, believed to be in connection with a publicized beef with Durk's friend Chief Keef.

Since his manager, Uchenna Agina, was killed while sitting in a car after meeting with then-Bulls star Joakim Noah, Durk says he has changed his ways. He told WGN Radio he wants to help reduce violence in Chicago.

The Englewood native recently promoted peace in Chicago by launching the Hip-Hop Summerfest in September along with other local artists.
