CHICAGO — The CTA is set to begin on a $23 million overhaul of the Illinois Medical District Blue Line station.

The project, expected to start in September and end by late 2017, will make improvements to all three entrances of the Blue Line station.

The biggest change will be the reconstruction of the main stationhouse on Ogden Avenue and Congress Parkway, adding an elevator to make that entrance more accessible for riders with disabilities.

The other entrances at Damen Avenue and Paulina Street will also get upgraded ramps.

The station will also get new lighting, security cameras, transit tracker displays and a refurbished look.

The project will be funded through tax-increment financing (TIF) funds.
