WEST LOOP — There's only one place where you can get an exclusive Monte Cristo burger: Umami Burger's second Chicago location, coming to Randolph's restaurant row this month.
Umami Burger will open its doors at 945 W. Randolph St. with a new expanded menu Monday, July 25th. The Monte Cristo burger — featuring Umami Burger’s signature beef patty, vanilla custard-soaked deep fried bun, prosciutto, gruyere fondue, powdered sugar and a side of maple syrup — will be exclusively served at the new West Loop location.
The L.A.-based burger chain's expanded menu at the new Randolph restaurant will feature a new selection of starters and sides, all highlighting umami flavor. New options will include Gochujang short rib sliders, Japanese-style wings and vegetable-based small plates and salads.
The 100-seat Fulton Market restaurant will also offer more non-beef burger options, including two new chicken sandwiches and a falafel burger, as well as a full bar with signature craft cocktails.
The restaurant will feature Happy Hour specials, including $3 truffle fries, $4 draft beers, $5 wines by the glass, $6 starters and $7 cocktails, from 4-6 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m.-close.
The restaurant will be open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Named "Burger of the Year" by GQ Magazine, Umami Burger hand-crafts its beef burgers, which are coarsely ground in-house and seared on a hot plancha. Each burger is made with a signature Umami sauce and Umami dust, and layered with house-made condiments, sauces and cheeses on a soft Portuguese-style bun.
Umami Burger West Loop neighbors La Colombe Torrefaction and Nando's Peri-Peri, a Portuguese chicken chain, which opened in May 2015. West Loop developer Sterling Bay owns the 945 W. Randolph building.
