Shootings Kill 1 Person, Wound 15 Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO- One man is dead and 15 other people were wounded across the city in shootings since Saturday, police said. 

In terms of fatal shootings:

At 10:45 p.m., a 21-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were in the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue in Englewood where they were playing basketball in a park when they heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. 

The 21-year-old, who was shot in the chest and arm, was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

In terms of non-fatal shootings:

A police-involved shooting left a man wounded when officers responded to a call in Calumet Heights on Sunday, officials said. 

At 8:53 a.m., a 30-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in in the 1300 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, police said.

At 12:30 a.m., a 23-year-old man was in the 10000 block of South Vernon Avenue in Roseland when two men came out of an alley and shot him, police said. 

At 9:39 p.m. on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was walking in the 5500 block of South Wood when two men came out of the alley and shot him, police said. 

At 7:40 p.m., a 22-year-old man was in the 1900 block of North Mozart Street when someone walked up to him and opened fire, police said.

At 3:55 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the 5400 block of South Drexel Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. 

Separate West Side shootings left three people wounded, police said.

Separate South Side shooting left six people wounded, police said.
