South Side Shootings Leave 6 Wounded, Police Say

CHICAGO- South Side shootings leave six people wounded since Saturday, police said.

At 8:10 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the 4100 block of South Ellis Avenue in Oakland. The man, who was shot in the shoulder, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition, Pacheco said. 

At 4 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the 4500 block of South Fairfield Avenue in Brighton Park neighborhood when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, Pacheco said. 

The man was shot in the right shoulder and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

At 2:25 p.m. Saturday, three people, ranging from 17 to 19-years-old, were standing in the 9300 block of South Stony Island in Calumet Heights when they were shot at, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. 

One of the men shot back and threw his gun under a car. The 18-year-old grabbed a gun and began to run when he realized he had been shot and stopped to call 911. He was shot in the finger and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Pacheco said.

The 19-year-old man, who was shot in the arm, and the 17-year-old boy, who was shot in the leg, were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where they were listed in good condition, Pacheco said.  

All three boys were being held for questioning by police, Pacheco said.

Also at 2:25 p.m., a 21-year-old man was in the 500 block of East 88th Place in Burnside when he got into an argument with someone who began shooting at him, Pacheco said.

The man, who was shot in the chin, was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.
