Englewood Shootings Leave One Dead And Two Wounded, Police Say

ENGLEWOOD — Separate shootings in Englewood left one man dead and two others wounded since Saturday, police said. 

At 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, a 21-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were in the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue where they were playing basketball in a park when they heard shots and felt pain, police said. 

The 21-year-old, who was shot in the chest and arm, was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Glennell Fairley, of the 6600 block of South Marshfield Avenue.

The 15-year-old boy, who was shot in the arm, checked himself into Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.  

The boy is a documented gang member, police said. 

At 9:39 p.m. on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was walking in the 5500 block of South Wood when two men came out of the alley and shot him, police said. 

The boy, who was shot in the hand, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.  

No one is in custody for the shootings, police said.
