Near West Side Shooting Wounds Woman, 34, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 34-year-old woman was shot and wounded in the Near West Side on Thursday night, police said.

At 9:20 p.m., the woman was on the street in the 2200 block of West Van Buren Street when she heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman had been hit in her left hip. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was not released but she was listed as "stable," Amezaga said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
