UPTOWN — A chocolate and sweets shop whose products have been featured in swag bags for the ESPYs and NBA All-star games is setting up shop in Uptown this summer.
In July, My Chocolate Soul, which "specializes in all-natural artisan chocolates and desserts," will open at 4442 N. Broadway, said owner and Chief Sweets Officer Ramona Thomas.
"We've been in existence since January 2011 and are super excited to open our first brick-and-mortar sweets boutique in Uptown this summer," Thomas said via email Monday.
The brand grew out of her love of chocolate and baking and "my frustration with long dessert labels with tons of crappy ingredients," Thomas said.
In 2010, after taking a French pastries course, Thomas set out to create a business that made a variety of all-natural chocolate bars ranging from truffles to candy bars, according to the My Chocolate Soul website.

The build out of the shop will begin this week and Thomas hopes to host a public grand opening in mid-July pending city approval, she said.
