DOWNTOWN — Another person has interrupted the Chicago Police scanner, using a racial slur and calling for a black person to be shot.
"Shoot the goddamn n----- and get it over with," the person said at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident is the latest in a string of interruptions on the radio channels the city's police and emergency officials use to communicate. The person interrupting the police radio has repeatedly used racial slurs directed at black people and made racist comments.
"Typical f-----' n-----," said the person, a man, during the March 14 incident. He then said "Black lives matter my ass" or "Black lives matter, man."
A week later, on March 21, the person said, "Will you shoot all these goddamn n------ and get it over with?"
There's no evidence the person using the slurs is a city employee, but Chicago Police and the Office of Emergency Management and Communication are investigating, said Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi after the March 21 incident.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has asked for federal and county prosecutors to help find the person making the comments. He is seeking hate crime charges for the person responsible.
