CHICAGO — A man was killed and another 17 were hurt, two critically, in shootings on the city's South and West Sides between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

The fatal shooting was one of three that occurred within a four-hour period in Englewood Saturday afternoon, police said. Seven men were hurt in three separate shootings in Humboldt Park late Saturday night, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Most recently, Estrada said, two men were critically wounded in shootings on the city's West Side Sunday morning: first a 31-year-old man in University Village, then a 30-year-old man in Little Village.

• Around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, a 25-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 5100 block of West Washington Boulevard in Austin when someone shot at him from a passing black car, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Loyola Hospital after being shot in his right arm and left leg, Estrada said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 11:20 p.m. Saturday night, a 22-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 6500 block of South Vernon Avenue in Woodlawn when a man shot him in the right side of his chest, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 7:40 p.m., Estrada said, a 37-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Harrison Street in North Lawndale when a man walked up and shot him before running away.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition after being shot multiple times in his torso, Estrada said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around the same, Estrada said, a man was standing on the sidewalk about a mile away, in the 4000 block of West Lake Street in West Garfield Park, when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his leg.

The man, 29, drove himself to West Suburban Hospital, Estrada said, where he was treated for his wound and released.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 7 p.m., a 36-year-old man was shot three times in the 300 block of East 47th Street in Bronzeville, Estrada said.

The man drove himself to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in good condition with graze wounds in his arm and back.

Police said the man is a documented gang member and was not cooperating with officers.
