UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — A 31-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot on the Near West Side early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 2 a.m., the 31-year-old  was arguing with another man in the 1200 block of South Union Avenue when the man grabbed a gun out of his car and shot the victim multiple times, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds in his stomach, chest and left leg, Estrada said.

Police said the shooting victim is a documented gang member. The incident occurred near Roosevelt Road and the Dan Ryan Expressway.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
