IRVING PARK — Longtime Chicago institution Mirabell has now been officially replaced by M Pub, which opened over the weekend.

Burgers and tacos are in, oom-pah-pah kitsch is out as owner Jeff Heil transformed his family's German-style restaurant into an American bar and grill, 3454 W. Addison St.

Regular hours are 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday but M Pub is taking full advantage of St. Patrick's Day, opening at 11:30 a.m. on the holiday. Corned beef specials will be available all week.

For those disappointed to lose one of the city's German strongholds, Heil continues to offer a "secret" underground menu featuring Mirabell favorites like goulash soup and schnitzel.
