WEST LOOP — A stretch of Washington Boulevard will be closed Thursday as an immigration march takes over the streets as protesters march toward Downtown.

The March for Civil Rights of Immigrants will assembly at Union Park at 11 a.m. Thursday and the march to the Thompson Building will kick off from the park at noon. Washington Boulevard between Ashland Avenue to cross streets east of the expressway will be closed, according to the West Loop Community Organization.

Organized by the Alliance for Immigrant Rights, the march calls for the full, unconditional amnesty for undocumented workers and the end of deportations.

Late last week, the group protested in front of Trump Tower, contending that Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump is dangerous not only to immigrants but to the entire nation's civil liberties and democracy.

Trump, who will hold a rally at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago Friday, is expected to draw thousands of supporters and protesters to the campus.
