ANDERSONVILLE — North Siders craving a health-conscious cafe with space to get work done, look no further.

True North, at 5507 N. Clark St., opens at 7 a.m. Friday offering coffee, salads, wraps, smoothies and a full collection of exercise supplements, according to owner Andy Peters, of Andersonville.

"Everything is nutritious and delicious," said Peters. "We're not trying to beat you over the head [with healthy foods] ... We'll have pastries but the goal is to have ones with real ingredients."

The cafe has seating for about 35 people, is equipped with free Wi-Fi and will have a printer for customers. And if you're stopping by post-workout, the menu includes smoothies with boosts such as protein and energy.

Peters is aware coffee and supplements don't seem like a conventional match, but "this idea works," he said.

"I suppose some people think everything is weird... Car tires and coffee might be weird, but this idea works," he said. "I think people who are into coffee are into living better."
