1 Killed, 12 Wounded In Gun Violence Since Sunday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person was killed and 12 others were wounded — including a 15-year-old girl — in shootings across the city since Sunday, according to police.

In the most recent shooting, a 29-year-old man was killed after being shot in South Austin early Monday, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

•A 18-year-old man was shot in West Town early Monday, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of North Francisco Avenue around 12:35 a.m. when another man opened fire at him, Sedevic said. He took himself to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. The man is an admitted gang member, police said.

•A 24-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side late Sunday, Sedevic said.

•A 24-year-old woman was shot in Austin Sunday night, Sedevic said. The woman was walking in the 5800 block of West Superior Street around 8:45 p.m. when she heard shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. She was struck in her foot and taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

• A 16-year-old boy was shot in Chatham Sunday night and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.

• Two men, both in their 20s, were wounded in a Little Village shooting Sunday night, Sedevic said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in Gage Park Sunday night, Sedevic said. The man was in a car in the 5200 block of South Homan Avenue around 7:10 p.m. when shots rang out, Sedevic said. He was grazed in his shoulder and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. The man is a known gang member, police said.

A person is being questioned in connection with the shooting, Sedevic said.

• A 48-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing Sunday, according to Sedevic. The man was walking in the 2000 block of East 78th Street around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot in his shoulder, Sedevic said. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, she said.

• A 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man were injured in a Chicago Lawn shooting Sunday afternoon, Sedevic said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in a drive-by shooting in Grand Boulevard Sunday afternoon, Sedevic said. The man was on the sidewalk in the 4700 block of South Calumet Avenue around 2:13 p.m. when shots rang out from a blue minivan, Sedevic said. He was struck in his left calf and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.

• A 22-year-old woman was shot in Woodlawn Sunday morning, Sedevic said. The woman was inside a car in the 6300 block of South Martin Luther King Drive around 11:20 a.m. when someone started shooting, Sedevic said. She was struck in her back and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital before she was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.
