CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side early Monday, police said.

Around 1:55 a.m., the man was walking in the 2300 block of West 19th Street when he was shot in his chest, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
