CHICAGO — Shootings this weekend left four people dead and at least 25 people wounded across the city.
Since Sunday afternoon, shootings have killed one man and wounded seven others, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
In Austin, one man was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting around 6:20 p.m.
Most recently, a 26-year-old man was shot multiple times on the Near West Side. About an hour earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot in Avondale.
Two people were shot just a few blocks apart in East Garfield Park. Around 12:21 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in his back while driving in the 2500 block of West Monroe Street. The man was a passenger in the car when someone opened fire from a light-colored car, Estrada said.
The driver of the car took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.
Around 12:50 p.m., officers responding to a call of "shots fired" found a 20-year-old man shot in his back, Estrada said.
In Austin, a 28-year-old man was shot after an argument with another man in the 4900 block of West Chicago Avenue. Around 10:45 p.m., the argument turned physical and the 28-year-old was stabbed in his abdomen. The man ran to the 2600 block of North Lavergne Avenue where he collapsed, Estrada said.
He was then taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Estrada said.
Early Sunday in Back of the Yards, two vehicles pulled up to a corner and people inside began firing shots, killing one man and wounding another. Five other people were wounded in shootings from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.
From Friday morning until Saturday, a 56-year-old man was killed in Austin, a 23-year-old woman was killed in Englewood and 12 other people were wounded in shooting across the city.
