LINCOLN SQUARE — Fountainhead's little sibling, Fountainhead Market, is set to open June 23. And one of the most intriguing features of the new specialty store is its tastings of whiskeys at its big brother's bar next door before a customer settles on a purchase.

Not sure if a certain single-cask whiskey will be to your liking? Grab a voucher at the market, 1966 W. Montrose Ave., take it to Fountainhead, 1970 W. Montrose Ave., buy a half-ounce pour and then make up your mind.

"Whiskey lovers can be sure they are choosing the right bottle for the right occasion," Fountainhead managing partner Aaron Zacharias said in a statement.

In addition to selling beer, wine and spirits — for which the shop required the lifting of a liquor license moratorium — the market will have a daily lunch special and stock to-go versions of various Fountainhead menu favorites, as well as a line of condiments, sauces, sausages and salami from Fountainhead chef Cleetus Friedman.

Local producers including Katherine Anne Confections and Dark Matter Coffee will also have a home on the market's shelves.

Enjoy free tastings at Fountainhead Market's grand opening, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 23. Planned hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
