WEST LOOP — After closing its doors in River North, a wine bar is set to reopen Friday in the West Loop, steps from the city's hottest restaurant blocks.

The new Bin 36, which left its space in Marina City last year after 15 years in the neighborhood, officially reopens at 5 p.m. Friday at 161 N. Jefferson St. in the West Loop. In the new location, the wine bar's owner Enoch Shully will offer 48 wines by the glass, wine-focused cocktails and a seasonal American menu.

“We’re excited to introduce the traditional culture of Bin 36 to a new neighborhood and community, yet still be a comfortable and familiar place to our former clientele,” Shully said.

The restaurant will also offer a 55-bottle reserve wine list, sangrias and wine-based cocktails, including The Nose, a drink that uses a coffee siphon and fresh ingredients to highlight the notes of a wine.

Chef Shane Graybeal, who moved here from Washington D.C. to lead the wine bar's kitchen, has crafted a menu of seasonable shareable American plates with a Mediterranean influence.

Snack plates, priced at $8, include pimento cheese fritters with green tomato jam, charred carrots with barley puffs and dill cream, and radishes and virgin butter on toast. Entrees include a market fish and spring risotto.

Bin 36 is taking over a 4,500-square-foot space previously occupied by Province. That restaurant closed in late 2013.

Reservations at Bin 36 can be made online or by calling the restaurant at 312-995-6560.

The wine bar is open daily 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
