Little Village Man Shot Sunday Later Died, Authorities Say

CHICAGO — A man who was shot in Little Village Sunday afternoon later died, authorities said.

The shooting happened Jan. 25 around 12:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 24th Street, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Alexander Villafane, 39, of the 2300 block of South St. Louis Avenue, was standing near a car when a minivan pulled up and someone from inside fired shots, authorities said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in his head, she added. At the time, he was listed in critical condition.

Villafane died at the hospital Tuesday at 11:54 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
