Man, 19, Dies After Early Morning Washington Heights Shooting

CHICAGO — An Avalon Park man is dead after being one of two people wounded in an early morning shooting in Washington Heights Monday.

Cassius White, 19, of the 8200 block of South Dante Avenue was pronounced dead at 5:54 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

White was one of two people who were hospitalized after a shooting in the 9600 block of South Sangamon Street around 12:40 a.m., police said.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in stable condition after being shot in his left leg.

White was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot in his right torso, police said.
