CHICAGO — Police have charged a Morgan Park man with the murder of Summer Moore in May.

Johnny Reese, 23, of the 11400 block of South Aberdeen Street, was charged with two counts of murder and with aggravated discharge of a firearm in the May 9 shooting, police said.

Around 7:50 that night, about 50 people were gathered at a house in the 11400 block of South Aberdeen to send off a relative to prom at Simeon Career Academy when an SUV drove past the home and someone inside opened fire, police said.

Moore was shot in her chest while standing in the front yard only minutes after the relative left for the dance, police said. Moore was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Moore, of the 3100 block of West Marquette Road, was pronounced dead at 8:38 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Reese was identified as the driver of the SUV. He is expected in court Monday.
