LAKEVIEW — After five years on Southport, Pish Posh will close on June 15.
Owner Wendy Schulz said her husband was offered a job in California and "we were ready to go. It was just a really long winter, and we were ready for a change."
Schulz launched the high-end children's clothing boutique, which sells new and consignment pieces at 3950 N. Southport Ave., in 2009.
She had been selling her daughters' old clothes on eBay, but soon found it to be a hassle. Opening the Lakeview storefront gave Schulz more space and helped her connect with customers.
"It's been fun," Schulz said. "I really loved the job, the people I met. ... Customers have been coming in just to say goodbye and give me a hug."
The Indiana native said her family is moving to Los Angeles, where they lived before coming to Chicago in 2008. Schulz typically moves every few years.
"I like change," she said, adding that she was getting restless right about the time her husband was offered a job transfer.
Everything in Pish Posh is half-off until the store closes on June 15.
Unsold consignment will be donated or given back to its original owners. New pieces are still available online at www.pishposhkids.com.
