LINCOLN PARK — The Lincoln Park location of the Belgian bakery-restaurant Le Pain Quotidien opened Thursday.

The restaurant, which translates to "the daily bread," opened at 1000 W. Armitage Ave. in the former Ralph Lauren Rugby store.

It's the chain's second restaurant in Chicago. The first opened in the West Loop in May, and a third is planned for the Gold Coast in July.

The chain started in Brussels, Belgium, in 1990 and has since expanded to 200 locations worldwide, with U.S. locations in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Connecticut.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with menu items such as tartines (open-faced sandwiches), soups, salads and quiches as well as beer and wine.

The restaurant also features retail shelves with items such as organic jams, chocolate spreads, olive oil and vinegar for sale.
