Englewood Shooting Leaves Teen Wounded

CHICAGO — Nine people were shot across the city's South and West sides since Monday evening, including a 17-year-old boy in Englewood.

Police said the teen was shot after an argument on a CTA bus.

About 9:15 p.m. Monday the 17-year-old boy was involved in an argument onboard a bus. Shortly after he got off the bus in the 5700 block of South Racine Avenue, the teen was shot in his leg, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, police said.

At 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. The teen was in the 3300 block of West Maypole Avenue when a man walked up to him and shot him in the leg, police said.

The teen was taken to Norwegian American Hospital by a friend, and his condition stabilized there.

Earlier, a man and a woman were shot while they were riding in a car in the West Pullman neighborhood.

The 33-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were inside the car about 1:25 a.m. in the first block of East 121st Street when someone began shooting from another vehicle, police said. The two were taken to Roseland Hospital. The 21-year-old woman was treated there for a gunshot wound in her back.

The 33-year-old man was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.

At 11:15 p.m., four men were wounded in a shooting in Little Village. The men, ages 18 to 38, were all taken to area hospitals were their conditions stabilized police said.

The four men were standing on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West 24th Street when a gunman opened fire from a nearby alley before driving off in a dark-colored sedan. Police said the shooting appeared gang-related.

At 10:05 p.m., a 31-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting. The man was walking in the 400 block of West 126th Place when someone inside a dark-colored SUV began shooting. The man was shot in his right hip and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized, police said.

As of Tuesday morning, no one was in custody in connection with any of the shootings, police said.
