GOLD COAST — French boutique brand Sandro will open its first Midwestern outpost Thursday in Chicago at 102 E. Oak St.

The luxury fashion brand launched in 1984 by husband-and-wife team Didier and Evelyne Chetrite in Paris already has a presence in Chicago at the River North Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's.

But the 1,720-square-foot boutique opening Thursday will be the first shop dedicated to the line in the region.

The Chetrites unveiled the store's "new concept" at a launch party in October in Brooklyn, according to a release from the brand.

The Chicago store's concept is "based on graphic spaces, a mixture of wood and marble raw materials which reflects a Scandinavian style with minimalist modernity," according to the release.

The Gold Coast storefront will join a family of 10 Sandro boutiques located in Miami, Palm Beach, New York, Las Vegas and other major cities in the U.S.

Patrick Valeo, CEO of SMCP, Sandro's umbrella fashion group, said Oak Street is an ideal location for the minimalist, menswear-influenced fashion line.

"Oak Street has evolved to become Chicago's most sought after address for upscale retail shopping and is already home to some of the world's leading fashion brands," Valeo said in a statement.

"Sandro is thrilled to be part of such a prestige location and to join the ranks of other high caliber leading fashion brands that will also call Oak Street home."

The new boutique includes Sandro's full men's and women's collection. The brand will celebrate the new location with a grand opening event in April.
