LAKEVIEW — Luminere Esthetics and Wellness plans to move from Lincoln Park to Lakeview before the holidays, quadrupling in size and adding hydrotherapy, said owner Tracey Briggs.

The spa specializing in affordable skin care — including a 20-minute facial for $20 — will be adding a steam room and rain shower after the move to 3248 N. Sheffield Ave., Briggs, 39, said.

Currently, Luminere is at 1219 W. Diversey Pkwy.

"I’ve always tried to offer skin care that gives results that people are looking for without feeling like you have to make six figures a year to afford it," Briggs said.

The former Aveda consultant from New York decided to open her own business so that she could offer services the industry doesn't typically have, such as the 20-for-$20 facial.

Facials are considered "a treat, or frivolous" due to high pricing, but Briggs wanted to offer it as a more regular thing for normal folks, she said. She's built her business on the facials, she said.

Luminere also offers waxes, lash extensions, body polish and wellness treatments like chakra balancing. Adding hydrotherapy — "it's kind of like a massage with water," Briggs said — at the new location will boost the goals of relaxing clients, she said.

She's most excited about the addition of a steam room and rain shower, where water falls from the ceiling, she said.

"It's enjoyable," she said, "particularly for a city that is cold most of the year."
