RIVER NORTH — Calling this year's online survey "one of the most heavily contested" in the organization's history, the River North Residents Association has selected the lineup for its seventh annual "Movies in the Park" summer series.

The residents association partners with the Chicago Park District to organize two free movie screenings a month in A. Montgomery Ward Park at 630 N. Kingsbury St. for a total of six summer screenings on the association's dime.

To sweeten the deal, they'll provide popcorn, too.

The 2013 movie schedule:

June 18: "X-Men: First Class"

June 25: "Back to The Future"

July 9: "Dodgeball"

July 23: "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"

Aug. 6: "Hotel Transylvania"

Aug. 20: "Hugo"

"It's like a block party, it really is," Paulette Rodriguez, vice president of the association, said when the survey launched in February. "It's a great amenity. We have this beautiful park, so we try to take advantage of it as much as we can."

Films start around sunset, and moviegoers will be provided printed programs and trash bags. Alcohol and dogs are both prohibited on park property.
