Despite a strong show of support from parents and staff, Edison's LSC ousted the school's principal.

The main differences: no bus transportation and admission will be lottery-based, council members said.

Local school councils hire and evaluate school principals, among other duties. 

Lane's LSC failed to agree on a new principal, has 90 days to make a decision before CPS steps in.

Lane Tech's staff is divided over whether the school's next principal should be hired from within.

Interested parents can attend Tuesday's meeting of the Local School Council.

Principal Maureen Ready said the cuts will force her to lay off three teachers and consolidate grades.
