WRIGLEYVILLE — With the last games of the regular season around the corner, the Chicago Cubs have announced the dates for the 2018 Cubs Convention, with the first chance to get passes set for this week.

The annual convention will take place Jan. 12-14 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 301 E. North Water St., its location for the past several years.

Hotel packages will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with options for two to four convention passes with one- or two-night stays at the hotel.

Individual passes will be sold at a later date.

The 2017 Cubs Convention earlier this year was an exuberant celebration for the world champion Cubs, who won the World Series after a drought of 108 years. The Commissioner's Trophy was on site for fans to take pictures, while a raucous standing-room-only crowd chanted, "Thank you, Joe," to team manager Joe Maddon.

Current players like Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell and Jake Arrieta led sessions along with Cubs alumni like Kerry Wood and the newly retired "Grandpa" David Ross.

Last year, the $108 three-day passes sold out quickly when they became available in November.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by an entity controlled by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
