CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man was stabbed on the Red Line in Wrigleyville early Sunday, police said.

At 8 a.m., a man was sitting on a southbound Red Line train when a man walked up and began to wave a small knife menacingly, police said. He then stabbed the victim in his left hip, police said.

Police went to the Addison Red Line stop at 940 W. Addison St., and the man with the knife tried to run away but was taken into custody after a short chase, police said.

The stabbing victim was treated at the scene and refused further medical attention, police said.

Charges are pending for the man with the knife, who is 23 years old, police said.
