Throwback Thursday: Bernard Street's Queen Anne-Style Homes Circa 1906

By Mina Bloom | March 23, 2017 1:35pm

LOGAN SQUARE — For #ThrowbackThursday, check out the Queen Anne-style homes lining Bernard Street circa 1906.

The old photograph shows the west side of Bernard Street, called Smalley Court back then, looking south from Wrightwood Avenue not long after the block was developed.

Here's what Logan Square Preservation has to say about the photo:

These homes today are largely preserved and the Queen Anne Style is predominant. Logan Square Preservation has recently begun work on writing a nomination for the area to be added to the National Register of Historic Places. The homes were developed on the site of the old Kimbell Farm, originally settled by Martin Kimbell in 1836 and the block was named for his wife, Sarah Smalley when it was developed by their children.

DNAinfo is partnering with Logan Square Preservation on a "Throwback Thursday" post each week. All photos are the property of Logan Square Preservation unless otherwise indicated.
