COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A South Side man has been charged with robbing five men at gunpoint in Boystown early Sunday.

Darius Buffkin, 18, was arrested about 5:10 a.m. Sunday near Buckingham Place and Clark Street, where police caught him carrying ecstasy, court records show.

Officers soon realized Buffkin matched the description of an armed robber who'd attacked people near Roscoe and Halsted streets 30 minutes earlier, according to an arrest report.

In that incident, Buffkin is accused of pulling a gun while an unknown accomplice stole items from five men who'd been walking along the 700 block of West Roscoe Street.

Buffkin pointed a gun at one victim's head and said, "Don't move. Give me all your stuff. If you move, I will shoot you," according to an arrest report.

The group complied, and Buffkin and the accomplice made off with cash, IDs, credit cards and several iPhones, court records show.

One of the victims used his laptop to trace his stolen iPhone to Sheffield and Belmont shortly after the attack, the arrest report said. That's when police issued an alert with the robbers' descriptions.

Once arrested, Buffkin confessed to the robbery and said he didn't hurt anyone, according to police.

Buffkin, of the 7200 block of South Mozart Street, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and five counts of armed robbery.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. on Monday set bail at $450,000.
