LAKEVIEW — Spring is gloriously on the horizon, which means it's time to start thinking ice cream.

Scooter's Frozen Custard will open for the season on Friday, and it's already asking customers to start thinking about what flavors they want most (as if we haven't been dreaming of them for weeks already).

The mom-and-pop shop at 1658 W. Belmont Ave. has already posted the opening weekend flavors on Facebook, lining up tantalizing scoops of chocolate peanut butter, whiskey caramel and French toast.

Concrete mixers of the month are the St. Patrick's Day-appropriate Minty Moore (Irish mint, cookies and cream and hot fudge) and the Celtic Concrete (same, sans cookies and cream).

"Texture vs. smooth. You decide," Scooter's wrote. The mixers have frozen custard mixed with toppings like M&Ms or Butterfingers and blended "so thick and creamy, it can be served upside-down."

If spending your entire day at Scooter's sounds like a dream come true, it gets even better: As of last week, Scooter's was still hiring.

Scooter's, owned by Mardi and Denny Moore, opened at Belmont and Paulina in June 2003.
