CHICAGO — One man has died and six others were wounded in shootings on the South Side since Tuesday, according to police.
A 59-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Englewood early Wednesday, police said.
Two teenage boys — a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old — were injured in a shooting in Englewood Tuesday night, police said.
• A 31-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were injured in a Back of the Yards shooting Tuesday evening, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The men were outside in the 5200 block of South Peoria Street at 6:45 p.m. when someone in a car opened fire, Estrada said.
Both men were shot in the leg, Estrada said. The 31-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Estrada said. The 44-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, he said.
The 31-year-old is a documented gang member, police said.
• A 22-year-old man was shot in South Shore Tuesday, Estrada said. The man was in the 1700 block of East 71st Street at 6 p.m. when two men approached and asked him where he was from before opening fire, Estrada said.
He was struck in his right arm, back and abdomen and was taken by a friend to Jackson Park Hospital before he was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.
The man is a documented gang member, Estrada said.
