2 Dead, 8 Wounded In Shootings Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people were killed — including a 14-year-old boy — and 8 others were wounded in shootings since Saturday, according to police.

The boy, identified as J-Quantae Riles, was walking with a group in Gage Park Saturday night when a shooter opened fire, fatally striking him in the back, police said.

A 43-year-old man was fatally shot in the head while sitting in his parked car in Englewood Saturday night, police said.

• Most recently, a 50-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale early Sunday, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago police spokeswoman. The man was in the 1100 block of South Francisco Avenue around 6:55 a.m. when he was shot in the lower back, Sedevic said, citing preliminary information. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, she said.

• A woman was grazed by a bullet while driving on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway early Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

• A 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Grand Boulevard early Sunday, according to Sedevic. The man was on the sidewalk in the 4700 block of South Prairie Street at 12:30 a.m. when he was shot in the left leg, Sedevic said. He was taken to Provident Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

• A 17-year-old boy was shot in Englewood late Saturday, Sedevic said. He was on the sidewalk in the 7300 block of South Morgan Street around 11:20 p.m. when someone in a passing black car opened fire, Sedevic said. He was shot in the knee and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.

• A 29-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting in Pilsen Saturday, police said.

• A 24-year-old man was wounded in a Chatham shooting Saturday evening, Sedevic said. The man was in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 6 p.m. Saturday when he was grazed in the right arm, Sedevic said. He got himself to Advocate Trinity Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.

The man is a documented gang member, according to police.

• An 18-year-old man and and a 16-year-old boy were wounded in a shooting in Brighton Park Saturday, Sedevic said. The two were outside in the 4300 block of South Rockwell Street around 12:50 p.m. when shots rang out from a passing white car, Sedevic said.

The 16-year-old was shot in his arm and leg and was takent to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. The 18-year-old was shot in his right leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, she said

Both the man and the boy are documented gang members, police said.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings cases as the investigations are ongoing, Sedevic said.
