Check Out Childhood Halloween Costumes From DNAinfo Staff -- It's a Scream

By Ariel Cheung | October 30, 2015 8:48am

DOWNTOWN — There's nothing more adorable than kids in Halloween costumes — even if those kids did grow up to be the harum scarum crew at DNAinfo Chicago.

We thought it would be fun to take a trip down Halloween memory lane, and once we stopped laughing hysterically, we realized the photos must be shared with the world.

Share your own childhood photos with us on the DNAinfo Chicago Facebook page or tweet them at @DNAinfoCHI for a laugh (or a scream).

Back in the late '80s, Near West Side reporter Stephanie Lulay was overjoyed with her bunny costume.

Reporter at-large Kelly Bauer was less thrilled with her 1993 Dumbo costume.

Animals were popular costume ideas all around, and 10-year-old Mina Bloom (who now covers Lincoln Park and Old Town) was no exception. Her Snoopy costume was on fleek.

All three critters would have instantly hit it off with Rogers Park and Edgewater reporter Linze Rice, who showed off her love of all animals as Snow White.

Getting in touch with the supernatural has never been a problem for Wicker Park and Bucktown reporter Alisa Hauser, who dressed up as a fortune teller in 2008.

Editor Lizzie Schiffman Tufano was a spell-binding witch, proving that sometimes sticking to the classics pays off.

Paul Biasco was also a fan of tried-and-true Halloween characters. The Logan Square and Humboldt Park reporter made for a perfect 5-year-old Frankenstein.

There are definitely enough creepy clowns out and about this time of year, but Far South Side reporter Howard Ludwig was just a very cute one back in the day.

Lakeview and Avondale reporter Ariel Cheung got raggedy as a beloved children's book character, Raggedy Ann, back in 1998.

Uptown reporter Josh McGhee put safety first as a 5-year-old firefighter.

Downtown reporter David Matthews also hoped to save the day as Batman. The five-year-old Matthews teamed up with his two-year-old brother, Michael.

DNAinfo editor Jen Sabella has always been into leopard print, which worked out for this '80s Pebbles Flinstone costume.

But we saved the best for last, because no one was more adorable than radio news director Jon Hansen, who was the most precious Tin Man we've ever seen.
