4 People Killed, 20 Wounded in Weekend Violence, Police Say

CHICAGO — Four people were killed and 20 wounded in violence over the weekend.

Since Sunday, five people have been wounded in separate shootings:

• At 3:05 a.m. Monday, a 28-year-old man was dropped off at Rush Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, said Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago Police spokeswoman. He had been shot in the 500 block of South Paulina Avenue in the Near West Side and was in critical condition.

• At 11:55 p.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man was in the 2500 block of West 68th Street in Marquette Park when he heard shots and felt pain after a nearby group of men began arguing. He was shot in his leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

• At 7:40 p.m., a 22-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North Laramie Avenue in Austin when he was shot. He was hit in his abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 5 p.m., a 24-year-old woman was sitting in a car in the 1100 block of East 74th Street in Grand Crossing when someone drove up and fired at her, Pacheco said. The woman was hit in her arm and treated at Stroger Hospital, where she as in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

The woman is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 4:25 p.m., an 18-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of West 105th Street in Washington Heights when someone got out of a car, fired at him and ran away, Pacheco said. The man was hit in his back and side. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for these shootings.

One person was killed and eight wounded on Saturday, and three people were killed and seven wounded on Friday.
