STREETERVILLE — A woman died Wednesday afternoon after apparently jumping from a Streeterville tower, officials and witnesses said.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday police responded to the 400 block of East Illinois Street and discovered a woman who was unresponsive "after a fall."

Roger Romo, 39, was working a construction job across the street from the 47-story high-rise at Illinois Street and McClurg Court when he saw the aftermath of a woman who'd jumped from the Parkview Condominiums, 505 N. McClurg, at around noon Wednesday. His colleague attempted to resuscitate the woman before emergency crews arrived.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 12:16 p.m. Her identity was not being released as of Thursday morning.

A 19-year-old Streeterville resident who lives with his mother at Parkview also confirmed the woman jumped from his tower and landed on the nearby sidewalk at Illinois Street.

"My mom told me she was feeling bad," the neighbor said. The woman "looked young."
