Two Dead, Seven Wounded Since Thursday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people were killed and seven people were wounded in shootings since Thursday morning, police said.

In Woodlawn, a 17-year-old was shot to death around 10:05 p.m. Thursday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

A 22-year-old man was also fatally shot in New City Thursday night, Estrada said.

Police fatally shot a 27-year-old man in Grand Crossing after he allegedly reached for a gun several times, police said.

Most recently, a 17-year-old was shot in Chicago Lawn. Around 2:15 a.m., she was standing with a group in the 6400 block of South Artesian Avenue when someone began shooting at them, Estrada said.

The teen was shot in her back and taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

Around 1:10 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in his arm while walking in the 5100 block of West Madison Street in Austin. A friend drove the man to West Suburban Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

Two people were shot in Roseland when a man got out of his car and began shooting at them as they walked in the 10200 block of South State Street around 12:15 a.m., Estrada said.

A 53-year-old man was shot in his foot and taken to Roseland Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. A woman, whose age was unavailable, was grazed in her leg, but refused medical attention, Estrada said.

Around 8 p.m., a 62-year-old man was shot in his leg as he stood in the first block of East 100th Place. He was taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

A 32-year-old man was shot in his lower back and left elbow as he walked in the 200 block of North Homan Avenue in Garfield Park. The 7:07 p.m. shooting left the man in critical condition at Stroger Hospital, Estrada said.

Around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old man was shot in Portage Park.

No one is in custody for the shootings.
