Taking the 'L' or a Bus for the Pride Parade? Here's a Guide to Get Around

CHICAGO — There will be extra bus and train service for the Pride Parade on Sunday.

The parade has brought in more than 1 million people in previous years.

Here's a guide to train and bus changes and road closures:

Rail service

The CTA is encouraging riders to avoid using the Belmont station to return home after the parade.

• Red Line: Trains will run more frequently 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

• Brown Line: Longer trains will run 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and trains will operate more frequently 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Blue Line: Longer trains will run 8 a.m.-11 p.m.

• Orange Line: Longer trains will run 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Buses

There will be additional service on the No. 8 Halsted, No. 22 Clark, No. 36 Broadway, No. 76 Diversey, No. 77 Belmont, No. 78 Montrose, No. 80 Irving Park, No. 151 Sheridan and No. 152 Addison.

• No. 8 Halsted: No service on Halsted north of Fullerton.

• No. 22 Clark: Southbound buses will travel along Clark to Addison and then run along Addison, Southport, Lincoln and Armitage to Clark. Northbound buses will travel the same route in reverse.

• No. 36 Broadway: Southbound buses will be detoured from Broadway at Lawrence and travel along Lawrence, Clark, Addison, Southport, Lincoln and Armitage to Clark. Northbound buses will travel the same route in reverse.

• No. 76 Diversey: There will be no service on Diversey east of Halsted. Eastbound buses will be detoured from Diversey and Sheffield and go along Wellington to Halsted and south to Diversey. Westbound buses will go from Halsted and Diversey west on Diversey over the regular route.

• No. 77 Belmont: There will be no service on Belmont east of Racine. Eastbound buses will detour from Belmont and Southport along Southport to Wellington, Racine and Belmont. Westbound buses will run west on Belmont over the regular route.

• No. 78 Montrose: Eastbound buses will run along Wilson, Marine and Lawrence and then begin westbound service. Westbound buses will travel from Lawrence and Marine along Wilson and then resume regular service.

• No. 80 Irving Park: There will be no service on Irving Park east of Clark. Westbound buses will run from Clark and Belle Plaine along Clark and Southport to Irving Park. They will then resume regular service along Southport.

• No. 151 Sheridan: Southbound buses will travel the regular route along Sheridan to Wilson and then run along Wilson, Marine, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Belmont, Outer Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton to Stockton. They will then resume regular service. Northbound buses will travel the same route in reverse.

• No. 151 Sheridan, shortliner to Belmont and Halsted: Northbound buses will run along Stockton to Fullerton and will then travel along Fullerton, Outer Lake Shore Drive, Belmont, Sheridan, Inner Lake Shore Drive, West Sheridan, Pine Grove, Irving Park, and Inner Lake Shore Drive to Addison before beginning southbound service.

Southbound buses will go from Inner Lake Shore Drive and Addison along the drive to Belmont and will then run along Outer Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton to Stockton. they will then resume the regular route.

• No. 152 Addison: There will be no service on Addison east of Clark. Westbound buses will travel from Clark and Belle Plaine along Southport, Irving Park and Clark to Addison. They will then resume the regular route.
