CHICAGO — A spate of shootings across Chicago overnight Saturday leading into Sunday has left four people dead and eight wounded.

The total for an already-violent Memorial Day weekend is now at six dead and 22 wounded in shootings across the city.

A 24-year-old critically wounded in an Austin shooting Saturday afternoon has died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Early Sunday morning, a 29-year-old woman was shot dead and two others were wounded when a group of shooters surrounded a party in West Englewood and opened fire.

Minutes before, a man, 32, was shot and killed in the city's South Shore neighborhood. A 24-year-old man also was wounded in the shooting.

Just before midnight Sunday, a 27-year-old man was found, dead, with a gunshot wound to his face in Albany Park, police said.

There were five additional reported shootings since Saturday evening, according to police, bringing the weekend's non-fatal shooting total to 22 people wounded:

• At 12:35 a.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in the 200 block of West 101st Street in the Roseland neighborhood, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was standing in his backyard when he heard shots and felt pain. Cooper said he was struck by a bullet in his ankle.

He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he is listed as being in fair condition, she said.

• Around 12:20 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the 3800 block of West Hirsch Street in Humboldt Park. Cooper said shots were fired by someone from a passing vehicle, which hit the man in his abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

• Ten minutes earlier, a man, 20, was shot in his leg around 12:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue, Cooper said. He was standing on the sidewalk in the North Lawndale neighborhood when someone walked up to him and fired shots. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, Cooper said.

• At 11:30 p.m., a man, 30, crashed his car after being shot in his head by someone standing on the sidewalk in West Englewood, according to Cooper. The man was driving south in the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue when a man fired shots into the vehicle from the sidewalk, striking the victim.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Cooper said.

• Earlier in the evening, a 25-year-old man was shot in both legs while standing outside in the 1800 block of East 68th Street in South Shore, according to police. Around 5:30 p.m., someone walked up to the victim and fired shots, hitting him in his legs.

Police say they are investigating the possibility the shooting may be gang-related because the victim is a documented gang member.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, police said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.
