Man Killed in South Shore Shooting Sunday Identified

CHICAGO — Two men were struck by bullets in the South Shore neighborhood just after midnight Sunday, leaving one man dead, according to Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

At 12:27 a.m., the two men, ages 32 and 24, were standing on the sidewalk in the 7900 block of South East End Avenue when another man fired shots in their direction, Cooper said. 

One man, 24, was shot in his buttocks and the other victim, 32, was shot fatally in his neck. 

Cooper said both men took themselves to Jackson Park Hospital. The 24-year-old man was listed in fair condition. 

Xavier Shannon, 32, of the 7900 block of South East End Avenue, was pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is currently in custody for the shooting.
