EDGEWATER — The two-flat house where rapper Shaquon Thomas, aka Young Pappy, held his mixtape release party over the weekend — an event that ended with a 5-hour SWAT team standoff — has been targeted by the city.

The house, at 6319 N. Lakewood Ave., failed a Buildings Department inspection in October and now the city is "reviewing the matter for appropriate follow up action," said John Holden, spokesman for the city's Department of Law.

The house, which has been known to be the home of Thomas' father, has faced neighborhood scrutiny since police revealed Thomas was believed to be the target of two separate fatal shootings that instead left Markeyo Carr and William Lewis dead. Lewis had been waiting for a bus when he was hit by a stray bullet.

Friday night and Saturday morning, Thomas hosted a party and released his new mixtape. Police said someone at the party fired a gun, which led to a five-hour standoff with a SWAT team. Thomas and 30 others were charged with disorderly conduct.

Officials said at a neighborhood meeting last year that pressure from residents spurred the city to visit the home. Building inspectors noted several building code violations at the house after an inspection on Oct. 30, according to city records.

The home's owner was cited for failure to maintain walls, exterior stairwells, doors, a balcony and garage in safe and sound condition. The records do not indicate whether the violations were fixed.

The house owner was recently reported as deceased in property records. The current property owner could not be reached for comment.
