CHICAGO — Two people, including a teenage girl, were wounded in separate shootings in the Near West Side since Saturday night, police said.

In the most recent shooting, a 32-year-old was critically wounded around 5:50 a.m. Sunday morning, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was outside on the 1600 block West Lake Street when he was approached by an unknown man who opened fire, Estrada said. He was shot in his torso and taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

At 9:03 p.m. Saturday night, a 17-year-old girl was walking on the sidewalk with another person in the 300 block of South Wood Street when a dark-colored sedan passed by and fired shots, Estrada said.

The teenager was shot in her left ankle and taken to John H. Stroger Hospital, where her condition had stabilized, Estrada said.
