Three Dead, 22 Wounded in Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO — Three people were killed and another 22 were injured in shootings across Chicago this weekend.

In the most recent shooting, a 40-year-old man was shot in Uptown early Monday.

Around 11:10 p.m., a 28-year-old man was carjacked and robbed at a Garfield Park gas station. He was in his van in the 600 block of South Independence Boulevard when a man with a gun walked up to him, rifled through his pockets and took his money, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The robber then shot the victim in his lower left leg before driving off in his van. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 9:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in his right thigh and torso while walking in the 5400 block of South Prairie Avenue in Washington Park. He walked into Provident Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 6 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in his buttocks by a man who walked up to him in the 12000 block of South Parnell Avenue in West Pullman. He was taken to Christ Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.

Between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed in East Garfield Park and five other people were wounded in shootings.

Saturday, another eight people were wounded in shootings including a 14-year-old boy.

From Friday night into Saturday, an 18-year-old was fatally shot in McKinley Park and three teens were shot in separate shootings. A shooting at a house party that night also left a 19-year-old woman dead and two others wounded.
