At Least Nine Shot Since Saturday Night

CHICAGO— At least nine people were wounded, one seriously, in gun violence across the city since Saturday night, police said.

A man was in serious condition after being shot in Logan Square early Sunday.

• At 12:45 a.m. Sunday, two men stepped out of their car in an alley in Palmer Square, police said.

The 23-and a 35-year-old men were in the 2300 block of North Sacramento Avenue when an unknown man walked up and fired multiple shots, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The  23-year-old man was shot in his arm and suffered a graze wound to his eye. The 35-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Sedevic said.

The men drove themselves to Norwegian-American Hospital, where the 23-year-old man's condition had stabilized. The 35-year-old man was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said

Police said both men are documented gang members.

No one is in custody, police are investigating.

• Five minutes earlier, a 27-year-old man was shot on the I-290 Expressway, said Illinois State Trooper Ark Wozniak. He was driving westbound near the Laramie Avenue exit when he was shot.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Loretto Hospital, Wozniak said.

• At 11:15 p.m. Saturday, three men were driving east in the 3300 block of West Polk Street in East Garfield Park when someone inside a car traveling west opened fire, Sedevic said.

The three men drove off and were found by police on South Karlov Avenue, Sedevic said.

A 21-year-old man was shot in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized. Another 21-year-old man was shot in his foot and treated at Saint Anthony Hospital. A 19-year-old man was shot in his leg and taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, Sedvic said.

According to police, the men are documented gang members.

No one is in custody.

• Three hours earlier, at 8:20 p.m. in West Garfield Park, a man, 32, was walking in the 100 block of South Kilbourne Avenue when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots. The man was shot in his foot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in good condition, Sedevic said.

• Shortly after 8 p.m. in North Lawndale, a man in the 1200 block of South Albany Avenue when he was shot in his chest and hand. The 29-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital and is listed in serious condition, Sedevic said.

According to police, the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives investigating.

Five people were injured and another killed during daytime shootings Saturday.
