LAKEVIEW — Arson detectives are asking Lakeview residents to share tips and surveillance footage after a string of alley fires in the area.

The arsons started in early June when eight cars and a canopy were torched in the 3500 block of North Wilton Avenue. Since then, at least six additional incidents were reported. A truck, mattress and garbage cans were destroyed.

Police said all of the fires happened between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. — mostly on Beat 1924, which is bordered by Halsted, Southport, Addison and Belmont.

Police issued a community alert late Monday night asking locals to call 911 if they see anyone who doesn't belong in an alley. Anyone with relevant security footage should call detectives at 312-746-7618 and mention pattern No. P14-N-092C.
