At Least Seven Wounded, Two Dead in Shootings Since Thursday Evening

CHICAGO — Two teens were killed in separate shootings in Old Town and Riverdale and seven more people were injured in shootings since Thursday evening.

Around 9:40 p.m. Thursday, an 18-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene after being shot on the Far South Side, police said.

About 20 minutes earlier, a 16-year-old was fatally shot in Old Town, according to police. Upon arriving to the scene, a police officer accidentally shot himself in the foot.

In other non-fatal shootings:

• Around 2 a.m. Friday, a man and a woman were seriously injured in an East Chatham shooting. 

The man, 23, and the woman, 20, were walking on the sidewalk in the 8000 block of South Ellis Avenue when a man walked up and opened fire, striking the man in his leg and the woman in her back, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman. 

Both were taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody.

• A man was in stable condition after being shot in Burnside late Thursday.

Around 11:30 p.m., the man, 19, was walking on the sidewalk in the 9500 block of South King Drive when a man walked up and fired shots, striking him once in his upper left arm, Estrada said.

The shooter fled the scene, and the victim was taken to Trinity Hospital in stable condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody.

Three people were shot in Englewood around 6 p.m.
