Shootings Leave At Least Three Dead, 21 Wounded

CHICAGO — At least 21 people were wounded and three were killed in shootings across the city since Friday night.

One person was killed and three others wounded in a drive-by shooting in South Austin about 7:15 p.m. Friday, police said. In Chicago Lawn, a shooting after an argument about 1:45 a.m. Saturday left a 27-year-old man dead and a 50-year-old woman in serious condition. A 28-year-old man was killed in Rogers Park about 3:20 p.m.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about  7 p.m. when a 19-year-old boy was shot near Midway Airport in the 4500 block of West 58th Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman. 

He took himself to Mt. Sinai Hospital after being shot in both of his legs, Estrada said.

In other shootings:

• A 19-year-old man was shot in his left arm about 3:30 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Escanaba Avenue, police said. He was taken to Trinity Hospital in stable condition. Police said three people approached the victim, firing at him and fleeing in a grey pick-up truck.

No one is in custody, and Area South detectives are investigating.

• At 9:55 a.m., in the 2800 block of West Fillmore Street in Lawndale, a man in his 20s sustained a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, but police did not know his condition.

• At 3:55 a.m. in South Deering, where police found a 22-year-old man with multiple gun shot wounds in his back outside of a gangway in the 9800 block of South Hoxie Avenue, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Initially, the man's family member took him to Trinity Hospital, but he was later transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he is in critical condition, Greer said.

• About 3:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Lemoyne Avenue, a 38-year-old man was shot in his left leg, police said. He took himself to Norwegian-American Hospital, where he was in good condition. The man told police someone in a four-door vehicle shot him.

• Two men were wounded in separate, unrelated shootings in Humboldt Park about 11:45 p.m. Friday, police said.

• At about 10:40 p.m., the 100 block of West 104th Place in the Fernwood neighborhood, two men were shot while standing on the sidewalk, police said. One man, 21, was shot in his arm. The other man, 26, was shot in the upper back. Both were taken in stable condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

• Just before 10 p.m., three people, including one 15-year-old boy, were shot in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue in Belmont Cragin. 

The boy and a 54-year-old man were inside of a car, while a 24-year-old man was on foot, when two men opened fire, striking the boy in his right arm, the 54-year-old man in his head and the 24-year-old in his back, Greer said.

Both the 54-year-old man and 24-year-old man were transported to Loyola University Medical Center where they are in stable condition. The boy is in stable condition at Children's Memorial Hospital, police said. 

• Around 7:35 p.m., in the West Englewood neighborhood, a 15-year-old boy was in an alley in the 7000 block of South Damen Avenue when a man opened fire, striking him in his left ankle, Greer said.

Police said he is in good condition after being transported to Holy Cross Hospital. No one is in custody.

• About a half an hour earlier, a man was shot in the 900 block of South Springfield Avenue and two men were wounded in a possible drive-by in the 2800 block of West Pershing Road.

• Around 6 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in West Pullman.
